Jewel Capture Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Jewel Capture Android app (Jewel Capture Audio Recorder on Google Play), made by Richard Cooper, operating as Jewel DSP. Jewel Capture records audio from your microphone so you can capture musical ideas. That is the only reason it asks for microphone access.
The short version: your recordings stay on your phone, the app cannot connect to the internet, and Jewel DSP collects nothing about you.
1. What the app can access
Jewel Capture asks for the microphone permission so it can record. On Android 9 and earlier it also asks for storage permission, so it can save your recordings. It does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, photos, or anything else.
The app does not have internet access. It has no way to send anything anywhere on its own.
2. Your recordings
Recordings are saved on your phone, in the Music / Jewel Capture folder. They are never uploaded by the app. A recording leaves your phone only if you choose to share it yourself, for example through Android's share menu, and then it goes where you send it.
Your recordings stay in that folder if you uninstall the app. They are your files, and you can delete them at any time with any file manager.
If you load your own drum sample files into the app, they are read from your phone and used on your phone only.
3. Information we collect
None. Jewel Capture has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no tracking. It contains no third-party code that collects data.
4. Phone backup
If your phone's backup is turned on, Android may back up the app's settings to your Google account. These are things like tempo, click settings, saved loops, and timing calibration. That backup is made and handled by Android and Google under your own Google account, not by Jewel DSP, and Jewel DSP cannot see it. You can turn it off in your phone's system settings.
5. Children
Jewel Capture does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
6. Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, for example by adding internet access, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
